The JSS Mahavidyapeetha (JSSMVP) Mysore, is a century-old education movement that has been continuously expanding the scope of its diversity to several branches of knowledge, welfare, and culture is the source of vision for us with the blessings of HH Shri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the leading light of the group.
At JSSPS we enable children to thrive by focusing on learning systems that develop the skills that children, families, and societies need for today and tomorrow with our motto of “SEEK | LEARN | EXCEL ”.
The JSSPS Curriculum gets its lead from National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2005). The paramount guiding principles as proposed by NCF-2005
Curriculum is constructed with the aim of enabling children to make sense of life and develop their potential, to define and pursue a purpose and sensitivity to other’s well-being and feelings together with knowledge and understanding of the world. Vision and Mission of the school define the broader aims of the curriculum. Our curriculum provides experiential learning which deals with more concrete issues related to the learning outcome "learning through reflection on doing.

Our creatively designed curriculum provides a firsthand learning experience and equips the students with the 21st century learning skills.
The enquiry-based approach provides students opportunities to explore, learn and become lifelong learners. The Curricular objectives are mapped with the UN SDG goals to develop our students into mindful global citizens. Making thinking visible is the prime focus of our teaching and learning. Students begin to experience the joy of learning at this young age and hence we provide a strong academic foundation to our Kindergarteners helping them to explore their interests and enhance their social, emotional, physical and aesthetic skills.
A team of dedicated teachers with the shared belief of good schooling are a part of the JSS PS family to enrich the experience of our little learners and promote their Well-being.
Our Approach in Teaching
Our teachers make sure that the activities are suited to each child’s unique needs and provide them through a range of hands-on activities, be it onsite or online. Through small group teaching and structured planning all learners are engaged and provided opportunities for deeper learning.
Other Learning Opportunities
In addition to academic learning, regular activities like Class Assemblies, Read Aloud session, Rhyme Time, Music and Dance sessions and various celebrations like Mother’s day, World Tourism Day, Peace Day add to the rich range of opportunities to our students. Classroom experiences are further enhanced through virtual field trips and experiential learning. Extra-Curricular activities like Weekend Challenges, Music Masti and Scintillating Saturdays are organized for the whole family to cater to the Well- being of our students.
Primary Curriculum
Primary school offers a comprehensive and flexible curriculum that promotes the active involvement of children in a learning process which is not only curricular, but is imaginative and stimulating to their overall growth. We support our students to flourish into confident, self-assured learners who are resilient, can understand and manage their feelings, and adapt their behaviour to bring out their best self in day-to-day interactions.
The integration of various domains of learning provides ample opportunities for children to make connections between their experiences. The curriculum is based on age specific grade level expectations that need to be attained by the end of the grade, and is designed by keeping in mind, the educational trends. The assessment pattern has been adapted successfully to assess necessary range and balance.
Our staff thrive on the challenge of creating the highest standards of learning and children engage willingly, eager to learn more and reciprocating the effort in a wholesome sense of progress for all to see.
We understand the importance of excellent home/school partnerships and for this very reason, we actively encourage strong parental input regarding their child’s education. We operate an open-door policy and are open to suggestions and new ideas.
It is our view that education is the key to a successful future. As worldwide opportunities become more accessible in terms of careers, the children of today are now competing internationally. It is therefore crucial that our children are fully equipped to compete with students across the world. With this in mind, we have high expectations, and as a result; strive to achieve academic and cocurricular excellence and create an environment where young minds lay strong roots, that will allow them to grow, in time; into capable and compassionate adults.
The overall vision is to enable children to meet, with self-confidence and assurance; the demands of life, both for the now and for their futures.
In the lower primary (Grade 1and Grade 2) a thematic approach is adopted to foster learning across the curriculum, placing an emphasis on multiple skill development. The approach combines different learning techniques to ensure that our children can get the most from their engaging educational experience. Students involve and a strong partnership between the home and school is established.
In the upper primary (Grades 3 to 5), our diverse curriculum opens the door to a more structured phase of their schooling, as young students build the correct foundations for a successful future. Our drive is to encourage children to be inquisitive, initiate and take responsibility. This will help them cultivate an independent understanding of academic and co-curricular activities that they will expand on in higher grades.
Middle School Curriculum
Explore, Innovate, Inspire
The Middle School, through the school core values of Respect, Responsibility, resilience and integrity, aims to create a caring, inclusive and well-disciplined community where pupils are self-motivated and encouraged to excel. This phase aims at developing the academic as well as life skills of the students thus preparing them for the senior school and eventually for the world.
Middle school is a stage of transition – emotionally, physically, socially and cognitively. Hence we understand that channelizing the energy and emotions of every learner in the accurate and equitable manner is very essential. As middle school educators, we aim at creating a conducive learning environment in order to mould students into confident and self-reflective individuals
The middle school curriculum is well linked to the school’s graduate profile and works towards attaining the long term goal of building world class citizens out of every JSSPSite middle schooler. The curriculum enables students to explore, innovate and inspire thus ensuring the holistic development of the children.
We believe that, when we encourage our students to train their minds and eventually examine their line of thoughts, it brings a more positive impact on the learning outcome. Considering this fact, the elements of Habits of Mind (HoM) and Metacognition have been identified as an indispensable aspect of the middle school curriculum.
We embolden our students to be actively engaged in their learning, become risk takers, confront the challenges, imbibe life skills and enjoy new experiences. To ensure the same, apart from the core subjects, we provide a wide variety of co-curricular activities and opportunities for experiential learning which plays a predominant role in the comprehensive development of the students.
Secondary Stage
At JSS Private School, we are of the fervent view that learners should be allowed to discover rather than be instructed about already known facts. Endorsing the view propounded by eminent developmental psychologist, Jean Piaget, “when you teach a child something you take away forever his chance of discovering it for himself”, classes in the secondary and senior secondary section have been designed to ignite the curiosity of young minds, nurture critical and lateral thinking and encourage creativity and innovation. The aim is to equip learners with the skills and competencies required to face the challenges of the 21st century world, thereby preparing them for life. The school lays emphasis on GRADUATE PROFILE to foster skills that will become steppingstone during the 4th industrial revolution the world is going through!
The Educational Programme in the section, as per the guidelines of the Central Board of Secondary Education, provides a variety of subject choices to the learners. The curriculum is further enriched by the school through an innovative and interdisciplinary approach. The prime focus is to bring forth innovation in teaching-learning methodologies by devising student-centred paradigms. In addition to academics, emphasis is laid on innovation, teamwork, performing arts and physical education. Developments at the International level are integrated into the teaching approach through sessions by industry experts every Wednesday during ‘Avenues’, a programme curated by the Counselling Department, that has greatly contributed towards broadening the horizons of our learners.
Student-led initiatives have been recognized by KHDA during the recent DSIB inspection report. Field trips, internship programmes, career fairs, community outreach initiatives, surveys, analysis of results and presentations during Student Led Conferences, mentoring programmes, enrich the repertoire of students and give them a practical experience of their field of study.
