ABOUT US

Welcome to Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba, an exceptional British school for global and local families within easy reach of all major areas in Dubai.

We form a part of the successful family of Kings’ schools, founded in 2004 with Kings’ School Dubai, the only school in the United Arab Emirates to have achieved an ‘outstanding’ rating by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau every year since inspections began.

Our schools all have the same key value – ‘The Best By Every Child’ – and this is the essence of our work, and what we all strive for every day. As a community, including leaders, teachers, support staff, parents and children, we know that working together in strong partnerships is the most effective way of supporting all our children to reach their full potential.

We are very proud of our British heritage and our thriving international community which is made up of many nationalities from around the globe. It is this combination of community and world-class educational standards that delivers such a high-quality, well-rounded, international education.

At Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba we follow the National Curriculum for England as a framework which we then adapt to ensure a conceptual, integrated and enriched learning experience for our young learners. It is important that we contextualise the curriculum so that children understand what they are learning and why, by using the environment around them. It is also influenced by the individual and evolving needs of our children. The result is a rigorous bespoke curriculum, relevant to children growingup in Dubai but designed to produce happy and successful global citizens, ready to take their place in the world

Our outstanding teaching is creative and forward-thinking: we are always seeking innovative ways to inspire a lifelong love of learning in our young people. We believe that the way children are taught is as important as what they learn. Our approach is holistic, incorporating academic excellence and the attainment of skills as well as knowledge. We ensure a supportive environment focused on student happiness, health and well-being. We encourage our children to be active learners in every aspect of school life, inspiring independent, self-motivated and resilient individuals. The results speak for themselves with students achieving exceptional attainment, progress and success within and beyond the curriculum.

Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba has outstanding facilities such as state-of-the-art technology throughout the school and classrooms, an expansive multi-lingual library, a black box theatre, extensive sporting facilities and a parent cafe.

Schools should be special places, filled with happiness, curiosity and investigation, with inspiring teachers, challenging learning experiences and rich memorable activities. Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba is just such a place, set in a beautiful campus, staffed by highly qualified teachers and exceptional leaders. It is a place of educational distinction, focused on achieving ‘The Best By Every Child’.

CURRICULUM SUMMARY

At Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba, every day is a step along a life-long learning journey. We design opportunities to inspire children, they become effective, enthusiastic, independent and motivated learners.

Our unique curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England and the Early Years Foundation Stage. These world class curricula are influenced by current issues, local opportunities and the specific needs and interests of our children. Teaching takes a cross-curricular, interdisciplinary approach, carefully designed to immerse children in their learning, inspiring them to make connections in authentic contexts. There is a clear emphasis on teaching skills and children are challenged to progress in all ways and at all levels. Children are inspired to achieve more than they ever thought possible through exciting hands-on learning experiences, imaginative teaching and community partnerships.

The curriculum delivery is enriched by specialist teachers of French, Arabic, PE, ICT, Swimming, Music, Islamic Education and The Creative and Performing Arts.

1.FOUNDATION STAGE (AGE 3-5)

We follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum, which is centred around seven areas of learning. Learning begins with the three prime areas; Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language. Then, when developmentally appropriate, children progress into learning within the four specific areas; Literacy, Mathematics, Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World.

We teach skills and understanding through an interest-led curriculum, with children's passions and curiosities leading their learning journey. Our guiding principles within the Early Years are:

all children are unique

there is goodness and compassion in every child

children are curious, creative, natural inquirers and are motivated by their own interests

children learn through exploration and play

children are resilient learners who understand mistakes are part of the learning process

teachers and children guide and facilitate the learning, co-constructing their knowledge together

relationships are fundamental

Children in the Foundation Stage are taught predominantly by their class teacher then have their experience enriched through weekly Music, PE, Swimming and Arabic sessions.

The curriculum delivery is enriched by specialist teachers of French, Arabic, PE, ICT, Swimming, Music, Islamic Education and The Creative and Performing Arts.

As the children mature, we encourage greater independence and opportunities to learn through collaboration.

Learning is class based and units of work are planned to integrate and interlink knowledge and skills from a variety of subjects into meaningful real-life contexts.
