No.1 Early Childhood Education
In the Early Childhood Education stage, the school focuses on fostering a love and excitement for learning while instilling a growth mindset, following one's interests and leading one's own learning.
The school aims to develop each child, discover and enhance their strengths, and support them in developing new skills. Importantly, the school encourages children to reach their full potential through a play-based learning approach that takes into account individual needs, learning styles and interests.
No.2 Primary Education
At SCS, the school follows the National Curriculum for England, and primary school is divided into two key stages: Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6). The school's child-led creative curriculum is designed around an overarching concept that provides students with a real-life context that integrates and connects all curriculum areas. As a school, the school ensures consistent and seamless progression as children transition through the different stages of primary school.
At SCS, the school equips students with the skills to thrive and succeed in this changing world. The school believes that children benefit from learning. The school encourages children to reflect on the way they think and make conscious decisions based on these reflections. At Safa, the school develops students' character and attributes, as well as their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum.
No.3 Secondary School
The aim of the school at Safa Community School (SCS) is to offer every pupil in the school a broad and balanced KS3 curriculum that is tailored to individual needs and encompasses a range of educational possibilities and opportunities. The Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) curriculum and the way it is taught at SCS is designed to best prepare children for their future.
Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11) GCSEs, GCSE is the acronym for General Certificate of Secondary Education. They are taken over the two years of Key Stage 4, Years 10 and 11 At SCS, the school offers GCSE, IGCSE and BTEC. GCSE consists of a 2-year programme of study in Years 10 and 11 (Key Stage 4). All pupils will study core subjects, optional GCSE subjects and non-GCSE subjects.
This is an important time for pupils in Year 9 at the school, especially when the school begins to select GCSE subjects for the next year. The school aims to design a programme of study for pupils based on their own preferences as much as possible, rather than restricting them with predetermined blocks of options.
Key Stage 4 is the fourth stage of study in the secondary education system, during which GCSE and BTEC are taught. The GCSE course lasts two years and the GCSE examinations are held at the end of Year 11. BTEC courses provide a vocational pathway for students who wish to study certain subjects at the end of Key Stage 4 without the academic pressure of external examinations.
In Year 9, students will go through a very supported and streamlined process. During this time, students and parents will be informed on how to choose the right GCSE/BTEC pathway based on a triangulated data approach including learning attitudes, abilities and achievements. If parents wish to take advantage of this, the school's careers team, pastoral team and Morisby Vocational Testing will further support students.
No.4 Sixth Form Curriculum (A-Level/BTEC)
At Safa Community School, the school's goal is to provide students from the age of 16 with a stimulating and purposeful curriculum leading to qualifications that are internationally recognized and accepted as entry requirements for higher education. The school aims to provide students with a broad and balanced curriculum and the opportunity to develop into responsible members of the adult community. Students need to achieve six grades of A*/8 or above in GCSE to start four A Level courses. It is important to note that universities require three levels as an entry requirement, so this is in the best interests of most students. At some universities, only a few courses require more than three A-levels, for example, a few courses require an AS qualification in Further Maths.
A-Level courses are written to the highest standards, are focused on global learners, and are recognized by universities around the world. They provide progression to the school's GCSE or International GCSE, and can be studied alongside the school's international BTEC qualifications, giving students a comprehensive choice of subjects. International Advanced Qualifications are not available in UK schools.
The Safa Community School is located in two oval shaped buildings that have been carefully designed to meet the needs of children. The buildings include a central block, a global learning center, a multifunctional sports hall with retractable seats, an auditorium, a self-service restaurant, a theater and dance studio, as well as a theater, music practice room, and a high school library
The architect is Fielding Nair. The building is a very bright open classroom, providing specialized furniture for children of different ages and using special "soft" flooring. Classroom resources are abundant, and outdoor areas are also made of wood as much as possible as amusement equipment. The central resource area used by teachers is a glass area, allowing staff to pay extra attention to children using the central area. Each classroom can lead to the terrace area on the first floor or connect to the balcony area.
