Curriculum

★ Kindergarten stage

The courses are divided into five learning areas:

· Mobilizing language in all its aspects. The stimulation and structure of oral language on the one hand and the gradual introduction to writing culture on the other hand are priorities in the nursery and concern all areas.

· Performing, expressing oneself, understanding through physical activities

· Performing, expressing oneself, understanding through artistic activities

These two areas allow to establish an interaction between action, feeling, imagination, sensitivity and thought.

· The area of "building the first tools of thinking"

· "Exploring the world"

These two areas are dedicated to developing a preliminary understanding of the children's environment and asking them questions. Based on the preliminary knowledge related to their experience, the nursery develops a curriculum that allows them to sort the world around them, acquiring common representations and knowledge that will be enriched in primary school.

The moments of reception, rest, rest, nap and hygiene are educational times in themselves. They are organized by the adults who are responsible for them and who provide reassuring reference points for young children.

The teacher sets up various learning situations in the classroom: games, problem solving, training, etc. and chooses them according to the needs of the class group and the needs of each child.

★ Primary school stage

Primary school welcomes students aged 6 to 11 years old and is divided into two cycles and five levels of classes:

· CP (Preparatory Course),

· CE1 (First Year of Primary School Course),

· CE2 (Second Year of Primary School Course),

· CM1 (First Year of Intermediate Course),

· CM2 (Second Year of Intermediate Course).

Primary school is the beginning of compulsory education

· The training provided in primary school ensures the acquisition of basic knowledge tools: oral and written expression, reading, arithmetic and problem solving.

· It encourages the development of intellectual, artistic sensitivity, manual, physical and motor skills.

· It provides elements of history, geography, science and technological culture.

· It provides education in visual and musical arts. It provides the teaching of modern foreign languages, which may include an introduction to linguistic diversity.

· It also contributes to the understanding and autonomous and responsible use of media, especially digital media.

· It ensures the acquisition and understanding of the need to respect the person, his origins and his differences.

· It also conveys the requirements of respect for children's rights and equality between men and women.

It provides, together with the family, moral and civic education, which includes learning the values and symbols of the Republic and the European Union, in particular the national anthem and its history, in order to enable people to exercise their citizenship.

 Teaching cycles

The organization of teaching cycles allows taking into account the progressive nature of learning and the needs of students in order to support them in acquiring skills. The number and duration of the entire compulsory education cycle have been redefined. Since the beginning of the 2014 school year, nursery school has been a cycle in itself (cycle 1, primary school learning cycle). The creation of a cycle between the last two classes of primary school and the sixth grade class should promote better educational continuity between primary and secondary schools.

Cycle 2, the basic learning cycle, corresponds to the first three years of primary school and is called: Preparatory Course (CP), First Year Basic Course (CE1) and Second Year Basic Course (CE2).

Cycle 3, the consolidation cycle, corresponds to the two years of primary school after the basic learning cycle and the first year of junior high school and is called: First Year Intermediate Course (CM1), Second Year Intermediate Course (CM2) and Sixth Grade Course

 Lower secondary stage

Academy teaching method

Teaching in secondary schools is divided into the following subjects: French, mathematics, history-geography, civic education, life and earth sciences, technology, visual arts, physical education and sports, physics and chemistry. These objectives are determined by the national program.

The four-year (sixth, fifth, fourth and third) compulsory education is divided into three cycles.

Adaptation cycle: 6th

The sixth grade facilitates the transition from school to secondary school and introduces students to the subjects and working methods specific to secondary education.

Central cycles: 5th and 4th

It enables students to deepen and broaden their knowledge and skills. In the fifth grade, the teaching of physics and chemistry begins. From the fifth grade, they have the opportunity to start learning Latin. In the fourth grade, students begin to learn a second foreign language. In the practice of LFIGP, they start a third modern language (German or Spanish) in addition to English and Arabic. In addition, students participate in the interdisciplinary project, I.D.D: Path of Discovery, which is organized in Dubai around Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). At the end of the fifth grade, students can participate in additional intensive English teaching as part of the European component. The application is studied by the assignment committee.

Orientation cycle: 3rd

The student completes his or her studies, develops his or her personal project and prepares for entry to the second year and obtaining the Brevet National Diploma. The LFIGP is the examination and deliberation center for patents.

At the end of the third class, students whose declared nationality belongs to the 22 countries of the Arab League must continue to study Arabic, either in LV2 or as a compulsory option. Students of other nationalities can stop or continue Arabic, either in LV2 or as an optional option.

Whether or not they are assigned to the group for the European part of the 4ème, students can join the section in Seconde, where they take additional history and geography courses in English according to a specific curriculum. The application is studied by the assignment committee. In the Bachelor's degree, students can take specific assessments in order to obtain the indication "European Part - English" on their Bachelor's degree diploma.

With the secondary school reform implemented in September 2016, new courses have emerged, such as EPI (Interdisciplinary Practical Teaching).

These are complementary courses that enable students to study and work in a different way on the content of the courses in grades 5, 4 and 3.
